REMEMBERING MANAGERS

#1 - the near legendary Mick Taylor 1979/80 - 1982/83

Who could ever forget this awe inspiring man. Captain of the sinking ship in the relegation season who came out with comments like...

  • A good team doesn't become a bad one overnight.
  • We will turn the corner.
  • I resign! (twice)
  • We lost at home 0-5 to Telford but we were the better side.
  • We can't go far wrong with men like Stan around.
  • It's not true that the Preston lads don't talk to the Barrow lads, and money doesn't come into it.
  • I assure you, one day my set pieces will work.

But joking aside, Mick did give us our most successful Alliance Premier League side (eighth and ninth), also brought the Lancashire Cup back to the club for the first time in over thirty years and he actually got one of his free kicks to work!

Since then Mick Taylor has toured the Northern non-League football scene with such illustrious names as Lytham, Workington, Southport and Fleetwood. Never mind Mick, things can only get better.

Keep punching the dugouts, love from everyone at Give 'Em Beans!
