I know its hard to believe, but there was one of us who thought there were...

TWENTY-TWO REASONS...

We were better off in the UniBond in 1996-97

  1. We won't come straight back down again.
  2. We won't have to play Morecambe.
  3. We'll have proper derby games (for a change) against Lancaster City.
  4. We don't know the way to most of the Conference grounds.
  5. We know the way to every away ground in the UniBond now without having to stop to ask someone.
  6. If we meet a Conference club in a cup competition, and beat 'em we'll be giant killers.
  7. We'll have the biggest home crowds.
  8. We'll be the best supported team away from home.
  9. We can enter the President's Cup (hmm, are you sure about this? Ed.).
  10. We can get to most away games in just an hour or two's drive.
  11. We'll have the best grandstand.
  12. We'll have the newest grandstand.
  13. We can get promoted as champions at the end of the season.
  14. We always get promotion when the year ends in a '7' i.e.) season 1966-67 (Yeah, so what about 76-77 and 86-87 then? Ed.).
  15. We can watch another game from the slagheap at Frickley.
  16. We can say 'ƒ*¢# off' to Marine goalie Kevin O'Brien again.
  17. We can say hello to all the sheep at Buxton and Colwyn Bay.
  18. We'll hardly ever appear on the pools coupon (We always get stuffed when we do).
  19. There'll be enough time to get the accounts ready (are you sure about this one, as well? Ed.).
  20. There'll be a new stand in front of the Sports and Leisure Club.
  21. It costs more to watch Conference games.
  22. We'll have another new manager... possibly.
