What faint hopes of promotion we still had in 1996 were
shattered when it was revealed that the club's accounts had
reached the Conference long after the deadline they had set.
Speculation that Bill McCullough's remark really means that
it wouldn't have happened in his day because there wouldn't
have been any accounts in his day is reckless and
irresponsible and should not be entertained for even a
nanosecond.
